This Trick Will Get Your Podcast More Engagement - Podcast Shorts

Get More Engagement for your Podcast!

Podcasts are a fantastic way of delivering content to your audience. Millions of people tune in to podcasts across the world every day to get insight into topics, businesses and people that fascinate them.

Podcasts are a great thing and I’m sure you are aware that there is no shortage of them. So how can you stand out and bring your content to more people? How can you engage new listeners and pique their interest with what you have to say?

Well, simply put, you have got to give the people what they want and short form content is king.

So here’s what you need to do: take your podcast, extract three to five highlights such as a funny anecdote, a surprise moment, or an interesting fact, and edit them into portrait format, and post on platforms like tiktok, instagram, facebook, even LinkedIn.

Your target here are mobile users. With a portrait format video you are taking up more screen real estate and putting your content right in front of your audiences eyes.

There are some great benefits to this practice:

  1. More engagement. If your podcast gets 100 views, 15 likes, and 2 comments on a platform like youtube or buzz sprout, you can then gather engagement from all your other social channels by posting short clips from the episode.

  2. Reach a wider audience – you can really take this opportunity to feed into the algorithm of the social platform you are posting on to really get your content in front of as many eyes as possible.

  3. More potential for audience growth – you may not be growing your audience as fast as you like through your podcast platform alone. However, by creating engaging shorts and posting them on multiple platforms, you can give people glimpses of your great content. Lead them back to your main page, and give them the chance to watch the whole thing, or subscribe for upcoming episodes.

Now I mentioned that you should be posting these in portrait style video format, but what if your podcast is solely audio?

You can still take advantage of this.

Create a portrait style thumbnail, add your episode title, and a title for the clip you are creating and add subtitles. This gives your viewers something visual from your audio podcast.

There are other tricks you can implement too. Make your subtitles really pop and use interesting fonts. Look at the types of content that get great engagement on platforms like tiktok. You could even use footage from something else with your audio over the top. You could use images or stock footage too.

Your output is limited only by your creativity, but the key thing here is repurpose your content. Make that one 45 minute podcast into five 60 second shorts and post them on Instagram, facebook, twitter, LinkedIn and tiktok. Even 1 or 2 extra likes on each platform is more engagement and the potential for more listeners.

The great thing is the content is already there, you just need to repurpose it. Get more engagement, because you deserve it.
